Transferring SEVIS Record to CSU

Students must maintain valid F-1 status at their current institution to be eligible for a SEVIS transfer-in (form I-20) to Cleveland State University. This includes students who are enrolled full-time, on OPT, or within their grace period.

To begin the transfer, contact your current DSO immigration advisor and select a SEVIS release date (send record to Cleveland State University CLE214F00211000). Choose a date that aligns with your academic schedule, travel or work plans, and CSU start term.

On the release date, your SEVIS record will be electronically transferred to Cleveland State. After that, CSU advisors can access your record. To receive your new I-20, you must submit updated financial documents to CISP. Your previous school’s I-20 becomes invalid once the transfer is complete.

You will receive a continued-attendance I-20 from CSU within 30 days of your program start date.

Note: CISP does not complete SEVIS transfer forms or require a transfer-in form. All necessary information can be found on your current immigration documents, including your I-20.
