Read & Write Installation Instructions

The following directions are for the installation of Read&Write for Windows, Mac, and Chrom OS. Any student at Cleveland State is permitted to install and use this software. The Activation for Read&Write is based on an active Microsoft Office365 account through Cleveland State.

INSTALLING READ&WRITE FOR WINDOWS

1. Go to https://www.texthelp.com/en-us/products/read-write/read-write-for-education/
2. Click Try Read&Write
3. Click Windows
4. Click Install
5. Select your Windows US English
6. When the file finishes its download Run it.
7. If your computer asks if you want to allow the program to make changes click Yes
8. Click Accept and Install to proceed with the software installation
9. When it is finished launch the Read & Write from the desktop icon
10. Click on Initialize
11. Click Microsoft Account to sign in
12. Enter your CSUID@csuohio.edu (9999999@csuohio.edu)
13. Click Next
14. The page will reload and ask for your password. This is the same login information you
15. use for your CampusNet or E-mail login.
16. It will ask for permission to access your Microsoft Office 365 account. This is necessary to activate the product.
17. When you click Sign in your copy of Read & Write will be activated.

INSTALLING READ&WRITE ON MAC OS

1. Go to https://www.texthelp.com/en-us/products/read-write/read-write-for-education/
2. Click Try Read&Write
3. Click Apple Mac
4. Download the DMG file. This could take a while because the file is at least 600mb.
5. Open the DMG file
6. Copy or Drag the Application file Read & Write to your Applications Folder
7. Enter your computers password for administrator rights if requested
8. After copying is finished open Read & Write from the Applications Folder
9. If asked if you want to open a file from the internet click Open
10. In the dialog where it asks about Assistive Devices click the Security and Privacy button
11. Unlock the dialog and check the checkbox for Read & Write and close the window.
12. Click the Continue button in the Assistive Devices dialog
13. Accept the License Agreement and click OK
14. Click Microsoft Account to sign in
15. Enter your CSUID@csuohio.edu (9999999@csuohio.edu)
16. Click Next
17. The page will reload and ask for your password. This is the same login information you use for your CampusNet or E-mail login.
18. When you click Sign in your copy of Read & Write will be activated.

READ & WRITE FOR CHROME

To use Read & Write on a Chromebook or in the Chrome Browser without Read & Write installed on the computer you will need to activate the Chrome Extension while logged into your CSU Office 365 account in the web version of Word.

Installing Read & Write in Chrome

1. Go to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/readwrite-for-google-chro/inoeonmfapjbbkmdafoankkfajkcphgd
2. Click Add to Chrome
3. Click Add Extension
4. Login to your CSU E-mail and go to the web version of Word
5. Click on the Read & Write extension button at the top right of your chrome window
6. Click Allow when it asks about access to your Microsoft Office 365 e-mail and other apps.
