Campus Telephone Numbers

Main Campus – 216-687-2000

All Cleveland State University telephone numbers are 216 area code.

At Cleveland State University, there are five exchanges being used:

687, 523, 615, 802, 875

Cleveland State University has direct dial numbers and soft numbers on the legacy NEC system, which is being retired. Soft numbers cannot be dialed directly from off campus.  To reach these numbers from an outside line, you will need to call 216-687-2000 and ask to be transferred to the extension number. Soft numbers are marked below with an asterisk *.

Cleveland State University telephone numbers on campus are as follows:

Dialing out from Cleveland State University Telephones on the legacy NEC system (not applicable to Microsoft Teams for Calling)

For Local Calls:

If calling a 216 area code: Dial 8 + 7 digit number (do not need to dial the 216)

If calling a 330 or 440 area code: Dial 8 + 1 + area code + 7 digit number

*Please note, some 330 and 440 are local; some are long distance

For Long Distance Calls:

Dial 8 + 1 + area code + 7 digit number

For International Calls:

Dial 8 + 011 + Country Code + City Code + Number

For Dialing Directory Assistance:

Dial 8 + 411

Note: Cleveland State University telephones are not all set up the same. Dialing features may be limited on some telephones, per department preferences.  Contact the Telecommunications Office at 216-687-3881 if you have any questions.

To transfer a call to another extension:

"Transfer" button

Dial extension number and wait for the party to answer

Announce the caller

Hang up, the transfer is complete
