Add Events to Your Group
There is now a way to add events to your group. Events are displayed in chronological order, sorted by the event's end date. The best part of this new feature is that events are automatically removed from the view once their end date passes, and the next event moves up. There are four different views for events:
- All upcoming events for your group
- Next 3 events for your group
- Previous events for your group
- All events for all groups

Let's walk through how to add these blocks to your page.

Creating an event
To use the following views, you will need to first create an event page.
- In the top toolbar, hover on Content > Add Content > Event
- Fill out the form, which is similar to the Basic Page form. You can optionally add a link to a registration form
- Make sure you select a Groups Audience at the bottom. If there is no group, you will not be able to edit the event, and it will not show up in the events displays.
- If you would like your event to have an image, add a Thumbnail image.
Next 3 Events
If you have ever wanted to show only a few of your events, this view is for you. It displays the next three events that are coming up for your group. It automatically adds and removes events that you have created, as long as the event has your group selected at the bottom. This prevents stale information from taking up space on your home page.
This view is best added on your group's home page, to give visitors a taste of what your department has to offer.
- Navigate to the Layout tab.
- Add the block named Views.
- (Optional) Give your block a title, like "Events".
- Under List View select Upcoming Events.
- Under Display, select Top Three Group Events.
- (Optional) Add a link that points to all events for your group and name it "View All Events". (See below for how to create a page for all of your group's events.)
All Past Events
Once the event's end date has passed, it will be removed from the Top Three Group Events group. Where it goes next is up to you. Let's create a page where all of our past events will be displayed. Please note that if you have 200 events, they will all be displayed in this block.
- Navigate to the Layout tab.
- Add the Views block.
- (Optional) Give your block a title, like "Past Events."
- Under List View select Recent News, Events.
- Under Display, select Events.
- (Optional) Add a link to another page; for example, to a page where all of your upcoming events are listed. (See below for how to create a page for all your group's events.)
All Upcoming Events for Your Group
Let's add a page with all upcoming events. Please note that if you have 17 upcoming events, they will all be displayed here.
- Navigate to the Layout tab.
- Add the Views block.
- Give your block a name like "All Upcoming Events for <Group Name Here>"
- Under List View select Upcoming Events.
- Under Display, select By Group.
- (Optional) Add a link to a page containing all past events.
Adding all events that have been created on your website
If you would like to add every event that has been added to the college web page, regardless of group, you can add the following block. This is useful when creating a page that is similar to the News page.
- Navigate to the Layout tab.
- Add the Views block.
- Give your block a name like "Events"
- Under List View select Upcoming Events.
- Under Display, select All.
- (Optional) Add a link to a page containing all past events.
