CLEVELAND, Ohio (May 22, 2025) — Ava, part of the future of fundraising, arrives at Cleveland State University (CSU) this week.

Powered by artificial intelligence, she is the University’s first fully autonomous virtual engagement officer who will connect with alumni, donors and supporters in new, highly personalized ways. CSU is one of the first universities nationwide to pioneer this shift in operations in partnership with Givzey, a Boston-based digital fundraising and engagement company.

Ava will effectively increase the University's reach while delivering customized touchpoints, learning constituents’ interests and guiding them to the causes that align with those values. The move comes as CSU aims to better serve its campus community.

“As the world experiences seismic digital shifts in how we work, universities should be at the forefront of that innovation,” said Julie Rehm, vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the CSU Foundation.

“Ava represents our commitment and desire to connect with our community both broadly and personally. By using the latest technology, she gives us the capacity to accomplish more and, in turn, support more of our students, University programs and success initiatives. The CSU Foundation Board of Directors, who manage private gifts to the University, believes that Ava is an important response to the growing needs and challenges of creating meaningful connections in 2025 and beyond.
