Cleveland State University Named to Transfer Honor Roll Recognizing Transfer Student Success For Third Consecutive Year

Cleveland State University (CSU) has been named to the 2026 Transfer Honor Roll by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) for the third consecutive year.

CSU is the only public university in Northeast Ohio and only one of four public universities in the state to receive this distinction. The Transfer Honor Roll recognizes institutions that demonstrate exceptional success in creating pathways that help community college transfer students earn bachelor's degrees. 

“This recognition is about much more than transfer agreements,” said Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, president and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa. “Successful transfer happens when institutions intentionally design policies, practices and campus cultures that help students thrive after they arrive. These colleges have demonstrated that transfer student success is not accidental. It is a strategic priority.”

The Transfer Honor Roll is one of the nation's most comprehensive recognitions of transfer excellence. Institutions are evaluated using data from the National Student Clearinghouse and PTK Connect, the organization’s online platform that connects the nation’s top community college students with transfer opportunities.

The Honor Roll evaluates how well institutions support transfer students from admission through graduation across five areas shown to influence student success:

  • Transfer student success outcomes
  • Credit mobility and degree applicability
  • Financial support for transfer students
  • Recruitment and admissions practices
  • Campus engagement and support for transfer students

CSU has official partnerships with Cuyahoga Community College, Lorain County Community College and Lakeland Community College, offering pathways that expand opportunities for students to complete a bachelor's degree.

“Transfer students are an important part of the CSU community, and this recognition reflects the work we do every day to help them succeed,” said Amanda Zacur, director of CSU Transfer and Adult Learner Services. “We're committed to making the transfer process as seamless as possible by providing clear academic pathways, personalized support and the resources students need to build on the credits they've earned and complete their degree.”
